Mitch Winehouse has revealed that he wants Lady GaGa to play his late daughter Amy in a film about her life.
Gaga was said to be "in shock" after hearing of the 'Back To Black' singer's death back in July and rumors emerged that she was in talks to play Winehouse in a biopic.
"Lady GaGa worshiped Amy and would love nothing more than to transform herself into her idol on the big screen," a source said at the time. "There's only ever been one role she wants and that's to play Amy."
Mitch has now given his approval for the 'Born This Way' star to portray his daughter on the big screen should the project go ahead.
"We were invited to Tony Bennett's birthday party and we sat on a table with Lady GaGa's mom and dad," he told the Sunday Mirror. "They are just normal folk and very lovely people.
"I have heard that Lady GaGa is keen to play Amy in a film. I don't know what her English accent is like but it's not just an English accent she would have to perfect - it's an English-Cockney-Jewish accent so she better start practicing now! But she would be great."
Many claim Gaga often favors Amy and apparently Gaga thought so too at one point because she dyed her hair blonde so she wouldn't be compared to Amy because she wanted to make a name for herself. I think Gaga would be great for the role none the less.
But it's always hard having a very familiar face playing another artist because all we'll see is Lady Gaga rather than Amy Winehouse.
Honestly, I can understand why. I can definitely see this. The resemblence is definitely there: ****, Gaga only dyed her hair blond in the beginning because of the fact that people kept confusing her with amy . On top of that Gaga has a strong enough voice to play her and she's kind of out there like Amy too. I can see it for sure. Besides, would her own father lie?
The resemblance is scary. But looking like someone is fine, but can Gaga portray her persona? Would be great. Gaga can sing jazz well too. So I can really see this.
