Yes, Artist NEED time off, especially after a huge record such as 21, we don't want to be sick of her like I am with Rihanna

Interesting theory coming from a Katy Perry fan (sorry, I couldn't ignore your avatar). I know Adele keep making some other acts' stans pressed because of her huge sales but c'mon... She won't fade way. It's empty and talentless pop stars who come and go. That's not Adele's case. She already proved it. She's here to stay.Time to deal with it. Let's get real, people.

Adele hasn't proven anything in terms of longevity yet. I pointed out Norah Jones. Shall I mention Alanis too? Or Carole King? Adele is in the same vein as those artists and will probably suffer the same fate.
Katy Perry is disposable but she's also malleable. Her sound is safe and tailored to fit the latest trends so it doesn't seem unlikely that she'll maintain her level of success for a while. Adele's music is a nice change, but she probably won't ever stray much from her sound on 21 and will yield diminished returns with successive albums.

You took the easy route. Cute. Taylor knows how to emote the lyrics of her songs and doesn't put on a soulful voice when she has no actual soul to speak of. And I noticed you had no actual comment. But cute effort I guess... It certainly got a couple of people to chime in with some really worthwhile comments of "get" and some smilies.

That's how it should be. She should settle down and get comfortable. Even if she's gone for a couple of years, she won't become irrelevant. People will be impatiently anticipating any new tidbit from Adele once she's done promoting 21 and finally takes a break. It's bittersweet but I'm glad she's taking a break. (I am a bit sad that she hasn't at least started writing anything, but oh well; it'll come to her.)

Honey, Taylor is the most boring thing to hit mainstream airwaves, writes fairy tales targeted to teenage girls, can barely play a guitar and can't hold a note if her life depended on it. There is nothing more to say but the fact that your comment was ironic. Whether Adele fakes soul or not still doesn't change the fact that Taylor is barely talented, can't hold a note against Adele and is boring her damn self with her "I love you, Joey. Put on my glass slipper" songwriting skills.

We all know she's not gonna pull 21 numbers again in her career, so the "Um, well, it's Norah Jones all over again" comments are so unecessary and "No ****, Sherlock!" worthy.
Stop being so pressed over the fact that she deservingly slayed our faves this year.

And for the record, **** Katy Perry. It doesn't bother me that she might fade away, that she's a gimmick, or that she's not respected. It doesn't take balls for any stan to admit that, it just takes eyes. Taylor Swift is limited in her own ways too. But they're not the artist being discussed in this thread and not all the comments posted in this thread are being made with our faves in mind. Can the rest of you be mature enough to engage in conversation and defend your opinions without going on the offense?

Katy isn't that safe. Her type has come and gone just as much as Adele's type.
Paula Abdul? Cyndi Lauper? Avril Lavigne? When the hits stop coming, she will fade as well.

This thread was about Adele I thought? Did I say Taylor Swift had a soulful voice? Did I? And yet I'm the kid when your arguments are as basic and immature as they come?
And Cap10Planet: "writes fairy tales targeted to teenage girls" - aka you've heard two of her songs so any of your subsequent arguments are rendered worthless.
"can barely play a guitar" - still failing to see any relevance to the thread or my comment but ok. Which instrument does Adele play?

Keep it cute, don't make ironic comments and all will be well.

There was nothing ironic about my original post. What I stated pertained to Adele only. If you wanted my opinion re: Katy Perry, I would address that in a Katy Perry thread.

People do realize that 19 has sold 5 million albums right?

First, 21 is not Adele's first album so cut it out the "longevity" ********. She's here since 2007, not 2011. Her first release was suscessful as hell, specially in the United Kingdom.
Second, her breakout album 21 is approaching 14 million in sales without following trends. Katy Perry can't sell 1/4 of that amount following trends. So, you need to think again. Adele will fade years after Katy Perry have faded.
Third, Adele doesn't follow trends because she is the trend now.

I wasn't talking about you specifically, and I addressed you. There is nothing more to say. We both made our points.

Nothing more to say? But sis I asked you a question. You can't just come here, get your props from some other posters who have nothing to contribute and then not back up what you say... But ok.

As far as most of the world is concerned, 21 is where Adele starts. You also missed my point in that Adele not following trends is the reason why her sales are so massive, but that kind of trick only works once, and I personally don't think she's versatile enough to pull the same kind of feat a second time.

OK. So according to you Adele should turn into some Katy Perry type of singer, just to keep being hot on radios? Please! She wouldn't sell albums so massively like now. This is her genre and it's way better than the majority of pop music right now.
Enough of this pointless conversation. You're pressed. I got it. You got it. Let's move on. But get ready for the 15 million in 2012.
