Best artist not famous in the US?
Theres obviously tons of artists ATRL people love that aren't successful in the US.
Who's your fave?
Mine is a tie
Anastacia

She has sold over 31 million between 3 albums. With pretty much only about 700k coming from America. Shes had 16 singles, all of which were hits somewhere. Sure her second album went to #27 in the U.S. and spawned 2 semi decent sized hits, but I think she deserves much more recognition in the U.S. Which is where she's from.
and
Sarah Connor

She's had one US hit with "Bounce", and a semi successful album that peaked at #1 on the Heatseekers chart. But shes had 4 albums and 1 XMas album. She has the records for most #1's in Germany, 4 of which were consecutive. Shes currently pregnant with her second child at the age 25. I do hear she plans to release anotehr U.S. album later this year (after she gives birth)
Who is/are your favorite artist(s) not famous in the U.S.?

Jasmine Trias

After releasing her debut album in the U.S. and charting on the Billboard Charts for the Independent Albums and Heatseekers Chart. As of January, the album has sold 15-20K. At the same time, Universal Records, signed Jasmine to do an import album in the Philippines, and in Asia in general,(which is now certified Gold) and has #1 singles including Excuses, Sana Lagi, Kung Paano, and Lose Control; a re-release of the album is currently being planned to include new tracks. The project in the US has been pretty much abandoned, but not completely abandoned, and her focus has been on the Philippines and in Asia. There's not one day where you can't turn on the TV to her Jasmine's name, her songs, or see her perform. Jasmine is currently on an international tour, she is currently in California and has a sold out show in San Diego and a highly anticipated show in Stockton. She recently performed at the Rage Night Club with great reviews; she also sold copies of her import album. Jasmine also has many plans for movies and TV shows in the U.S. and in the Philippines. Jasmine definetly deserves much more recognition from the U.S. because her album is a solid R&B and Pop album. She works hard and she has a great voice. What I'm hoping for is that people will forget about what happened on American Idol and just give this girl a chance. Don't forget to check out youtube.com for a collection of live videos and music videos; other notable sites are: allthatjas.net and myspace.com/jasminetrias

Joke? She's insanely famous, just not as popular as she was.
Hmmm There are a ton of Canadian bands and artists that could/should be huge though it's prob better they stay small.
I'll say Metric..

Well there is a HUGE difference between famous and not selling as much as she used too. 1.5 million is not that bad lol. Kerty is just a crazy Britney fan, JK..sorta.

LFR. PROMOTION ANYONE?
Anyway, it's unfair to say that Natasha and Princess Botox aren't famous here; after all, they've both had more than one hit. People know them - hell, Unwritten was sung on American Idol!
The artists that haven't had any hits here, and should, are (in alphabetical order):
Feist
Girls Aloud
Sugababes.
Iid like to see someone argue with my picks?!?!??!
And Trevor, GARBAGE? Really?

Def Agree about Garbage and Cardigans. They have grown so much since their stuff in the 90's but their fame and success has both gone way down.

But, Garbage goes against the very meaning of this thread? Like, they were nominated for Best New Artist and did a Bond theme? How is that not famous? They might not be as famous as they once were, but that doesn't negate their fame completely. Now people like Nightwish that never had any hope of becoming famous in countries were people are sane ... (Kworb, I don't need to put in a smiley for you to tell that I'm joking, right?)

I'm guessing you don't follow the charts much...

LFR, SPICE GIRLS? REaLLY TRL GIRL? 3 number hits. They're big albums sold 7 million and 4 million each. Their movie debuted at number 1. Like wtf? You must've not been alive when Spice Girl mania hit this country.
S Club - Hit show, top ten single
Joss - Platinum album, 3 Grammy nominations, been on oprah more than once?
Daniel - 2 Top 20s, just like his sister?
Craig David - Platinum album which spawned THREE hits?
And I've already explained Garbage sufficiently, right?
