Have any of you considered the possibility of The Edge of Glory as the first single from this album? I mean, it skyrocketed to #3 in BBH 100 when it was released when it was only a promo single. Not to mention there was no backlash at all when it was released (unlike Judas and Born This Way). I think we all know that TEOG could have been way more successful then it is right now if it weren't for the video. So imagine... TEOG as the first single.. with an epic video and all the hype in the world behind it.
What do you think?

It definitely didn't live up to its potential. The Judas backlash, its rush release as a real single, and the video made it hard for it to outpeak its debut. All things considered it did really well and nearly everybody loves the song.
I think that's everybody's problem with this era. The songs themselves aren't even bad; they are just being handled badly so they aren't living up to what they could. I think this comes from the fact Gaga really wanted to just do "her" this era. Not many popstars get to do that, especially so early on in their careers (people seem to forget that Gaga is still pretty new to the industry). I feel like what she learns from the BTW era will only make her future eras stronger since she'll have a better understanding of what she can and can't do.
