Ever since that blonde, outlandish, beautiful bombshell launched in 2008, we have all been subjected to the music industry taken on her new, futuristic phase. Many (Pitbull, David Guetta, BEP) have prospered, while others (Christina ,) have failed.

This year, however the "Trinity" (Gaga, Britney and Beyonce) have had moderate success, but been usurped by ADELE, an artist relying on mainly her voice. 2012 signals the arrival of Lana Del Rey, the return of Alicia, Christina and Mariah, artists who have soulful, connecting voices.

Is Gaga's, and the Dance era coming to an end? Is ADELE and her fellow female contemporaries ushering the music industry into a stripped back era?

In a word, no. The dance era will not be officially over untill songs from artists such as LMFAO stop hitting the top ten of the Hot 100.

No. Dance music will always be popular. There will be a major change in subgenre next year, though.

Seriously? 2006 was the start of the dance craze and you can thank Timbaland for that. Gaga took her notes from him.

I think it's just a time when dance songs aren't the only thing cluttering radio and iTunes. Look at iTunes and pop radio. More country, Hip Hop and AC songs are seeing success. Dance is still there.

Black Eyed Peas and David Guetta were just as if not more responsible for the current electro trend, because they combined it with RnB and Hip Hop which is what is dominating right now (LMFAO, Usher, Pitbull all jumped on that bandwagon).

No. It's just not completely dominant anymore. I don't think this dance-craze will end like past eras of music, actually. Artists will continue to work off of it, into House/trance, etc.

Adele is an aberration. "Yoü & I" and "Criminal," for example, both failed to make major headway on pop radio, which just signaled the industry's contentment to continue in this dance-pop trend for the foreseeable future.
