I think there's some truth to both sides. My guess would be that the judges' opinion is actually influential until the top 3 is reached, in which case CoverGirl chooses the winner.

Idk if I believe her. I do know Tyra plays te favoritism game. Cycle 3 clearly Amanda was the winner, her covergirl picture was flawless. Cycle 6 Danielle had a pretty picture but her accent was awful. And I don't think covergirl wanted that. Cycle 9 Saleishas picture was horrible covergirl would've chosen Jenah. Cycle 12 Allison had the best picture. Cycle 14 Krista's picture was bad and so was Raina's. Cycle 16 Brittanis picture was also bad.
None of the girls are actually seeing doing covergirl. The only one I've seen is Nicole from cycle 13. So this makes me think that the covergirl prize is just a lie.

Well, even the cycle one winner of Tyra's show don't get a long, that's why on the show when they talk about the previous winners, they never mention Adrienne. (She claims that she never fully received her prize, Tyra backlashed, etc).

If you remember cycle 9, you would remember the controversy that cycle had, because Tyra knew Saleisha before the show started. She was in her camp (creating self esteem or something). She's also modeled for her on her talk show and even ON top model. And she signed the contract, breaking it because it said you couldn't have appeared on x things (commercials, advertisements, etc) which she has (Wendy's commercial, Wig advertisement, etc). Janice covered Vogue multiple times. She really is a legend in the modeling world. Sad that she tarnished her good name like this. Although I still love her and think she's amazing.
I believe her though. I stopped watching shortly after she left.
