It’s wonderful that you’re “not ashamed to talk about [your] faith” and all, but it’s all you talk about. Our country needs a leader, not a minister.
Rick Perry bases his politic strategy on homophobia and the union of religion beliefs with the state. I really hope that this man goes no where near the White House at all.
The people that support him, don’t realize that our Founding Fathers wished for us NOT to be a “Christian Nation”, but a land where any religion could be practiced without scrutiny. Not to mention, the separation of Church and State that’s supposed to be in place (ie that’s why PUBLIC education institutions aren’t allowed to solicit prayer in school; people actually CAN pray if they want to, but teachers and other public educators are not allowed to tell them that they should or should not do so). No one says that you can’t practice your religion or openly celebrate whatever holiday you choose to celebrate; the GOVERNMENT isn’t allowed to take one certain side, though BECAUSE it’s supposed to represent ALL the people in our nation, not just the “Christian Majority”.
Faith in a certain religion never made our country strong; what has made us strong is our ability to Unite as peoples with extraordinary differences in times of need for ourselves and for others. There is no “War on Religion”. There is, however, currently a war that we NEED to fight on poor education standards, religious ties in governmental settings and functions, equal rights, and certain civil rights.
