HOIST THE BUBLE, BLACK KEYS REV UP
Warner Bros Records Could Nail Top Two Slots, as Buble Remains #1
December 7, 2011
Michael Buble’s Christmas is apparently the theme to this year’s holiday season.
Reprise’s Sinatra-like crooner will easily remain at #1 next week, with sales that will be in the 400-500k range. His NBC special last night was the network’s highest-rated prime-time show since July.
Warner Bros. will also have the top debut next week with the Black Key’s critically lauded Nonesuch release, El Camino, looking like between 160-180k, where it will battle with XL/Columbia’s indomitable U.K. thrush Adele for #2.
Universal Republic’s posthumous Amy Winehouse album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures, should do around 90-100k. The album is expected to debut at #1 in the U.K. next week.
Columbia’s Glee Vol. 7 is on target for a debut of between 50-55k, followed by Roadrunner’s Korn album The Path of Totality (45-50k), Def Jam/IDJ rap group The Roots’ Undun (35-40k), Star Trakin/Interscope’s Robin Thicke (30-35k) and Nappy Boy/RCA’s T-Pain album RevolveR (25-28k).
Finally, Legacy/Columbia’s The Very Best of Neil Diamond, which arrives on the heels of his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, is slated for 15-18k.
Album sales were down 18% vs. last week, down 13% vs. same week last year and up 2% year to date.
Track sales were down 6% vs. last week, down 2% vs. same week last year and up 9% year to date.
TEA sales were down 15% v. last week, down 11% vs. same week last year and up 4% year to date.
Is it 2012 yet?

And it's still early December. How much will it sell the week before Christmas?

I said he would do 400k+ the week before Christmas. I didn't think that # could be reachable this soon.
Also, could Adele possibly do 160-180k?

As long as Bublé doesn't come for Josh's numbers, everything's cool.

At this rate Bublé might be seeing some "I Dreamed a Dream" type numbers the week before Christmas. I'd bet that he crosses the 1M+ mark WW.

It feels 'early' for him to be doing 400-500k. It's possible it could increase as Christmas nears.

It is early. If he finishes near the upper end of his prediction that's a 200k increase from last week, which is insane. A shame Oprah is off the air, that could've been another massive boost.
