I'm sorry, I love "OFV2", but, for now, the album IS a flop for Shakira's status. However, I guess "HDL" will help the album a lot.

like you said ....Thuth hurts.... and it hurts that she was part of a Boom...yet this thread.... and how people expect her to sell millions shows she has managed to make a name for herlsef in every market

Actually I remember an MTV interview where she was discussing how she was NOT a part of the Latin boom, she said that if she were part of the latin explosion, in the end all that would be left are the ashes (<-- not a direct quote but close), and if you recall she released LS literally years after Ricky, Enrique, etc. hit their peak.

That said, I have mentioned before that I DO love this album and I still think (and hope) it might pick back up with "Hips Don't Lie". The problem wasn't the latin explosion, it was just a lackluster first single that was very different and a departure from the sound that made her famous (at least in English). I loved "Don't Bother" but it was pretty clear that it wasn't promoted very well, and people just didn't take to it as they did her other material.

mig123, like datura said, Shakira has nothing to do with that latin generation that includes Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin etc, she's from 2001 in the US.
And calm down, you have the right to think "OFV2" is a huge success, but remember that the others can have different opinions - the actual sales for the album helps those who say the album is a flop.
And please, don't compare Britney sales with Shakira sales, that's pretty stupid, since her biggest album in the US sold the same as Britney's least successful, ITZ.
Face the fact that her english album, with an english single, sold half of what her spanish album sold in a country that speaks english (she even had to record another song and re-release the album) - and that's why we can call it a flop.

P.S.: 13 gold discs isn't anything so amazing, so wonderful. Let's use Britney as an example, just like you did: all her studio albums sold way more than 500k, which is a gold disc in the US, the #1 country when we talk about sales and highest numbers for certifications.

I like that picture, that's cool. I hope she has enough wall-space to put them on... or she can just put one plaque in every room of one of her houses, including the bathroom.

and I never have said the album is sucessful in sales .........neather have i compared it to britney sales..... was just giving an example how everybody album sales have been ging down and 13 countries are 13 countries...... some artist will die to be a ***name*** in 13 countries......(not going to name them)

Hello..when I buy an album I don't become a fan...It takes time..I have bought so many albums that I liked and hate the artist..however, that don't make me a fan...just because she sold 13 mill of LS don't mean all 13 mill became fans..where in the world do you live man..stop eating too much frijoles and arroz cause it's making you lose your mind..poor fella
