What Speak Now and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy both lacked were smash hits. Every other album nominated this year had at least one song that was a huge hit ("Walk" was one of the biggest hits on rock radio this year). The hype for both albums died down rather quickly, whereas Rihanna was still pumping out hits from LOUD up until September. Look at last year: all the nominees had very successful singles, or in the case of Arcade Fire, became one of the biggest selling indie releases of 2010.

And I don't think this paves the way for Adele at all. It's going to be an Adele vs. Lady GaGa showdown for AOTY.

The award is Adele's to lose now. Gaga is there to make "the competition" look interesting.

Likewise for Loud.

I agreed. Taylor and Kanye deserve to be nominated.
But seriously, move on. Bad Romance was snubbed last year, the category for AOTY was also messy as well.

The only people who have a slight chance of upsetting Adele are the Foo Fighters.

I don't understand how Bon Iver missed out. Maybe they were afraid of making Justin Vernon the Christopher Cross of our time. (Without the hits, of course.)

There's a reason for All Of The Lights being nominated. They didn't want Kanye go home empty handed when Adele takes home AOTY
