Everytime I sneeze, I think about what my cousin told me: "Sneeze with your eyes open and they'll fly out of their sockets."

I've never sneezed with my eyes open. In fact, I think it's impossible. But it does make me think that the eyes can fly out of their sockets due to a sneeze's force, if your eyes stay open. It also makes me wonder how the eyelids would be stong enough to stop the force. You can actually feel the pressure around your eyes when you sneeze. It's strange how the body works.

Some say it's just a myth, but I think it could actually happen.

What do you guys think? Will your eyes fly out of their sockets if they remain open while you sneeze?

It's automatic, you cannot control it. Your eyes close because of the high pressure while sneezing. But ofcourse your eyes won't fly out, it's just a silly urban legend.

My old science teacher told us, that when you sneeze everything in your body shuts down for like half a second, so in sense, you die everytime sneeze for half a second.

I don't think they would fly out of their sockets, but it is almost impossible to sneeze with your eyes open. They just automatically close due to not being able to withstand the huge amount of pressure when you sneeze.

I remember on the show Mythbusters, they held their eyes open when they sneezed and nothing happened.
