I think every major pop girl has had her share of clones but that doesn't mean they've popularized a trend.

Oh and anyone singing in this hiccuping, rapid-fire vocal style owes credit to Bey. Plus she is a big reason R&B became so big in the early 2000s. She made it interesting again.

Neither. If anything she is kind of a contemporary version of Diana Ross. But I would say Beyonce isn't really a trendsetter in the pop world or even the R&B one because no one really follows her trends. She carved out a niche in regards to feminism - do me right or I'm threw anthems but people don't really use her sound and her signature that heavily. Beyonce doesn't really have clones, I think it says volumes that the people being accused of "copying her" sound more like Mary J. Blidge then her specifically. R&B musicians don't really do a lot of the music Beyonce does. Tamia, Ashanti, Amerie, Keyisha Cole, etc. take more books from Mary J. Blidge and Faith Evans then they do from Beyonce.
