What are some movies that were remade or a sequel that was better than the first (original)?

Toy Story 2 and 3 >>>
But still the three of them are flawless in every possible way.

X2 and Dark Knight, off the top of my head.

I was gonna say Toy Story 2, but you beat me to it.

But 3 wasn't as good as 1, in my opinion. Although 3 did feature the star of the trilogy, the legendary girl in my avie.

Toy Story 2 was NOT better than the original!
Toy Story 3, however, was PERFECT, right up there with the first one.

Saw II, III, and VI > the first one.

Shrek Forever After is my favorite in the series, just because Rumpelstiltskin is one of my favorite animated villains ever. Puss in Boots was awful. Americano couldn't even save it.

Final Destination 2 was as good as the first one, 3 started going downhill, 4 was awful awful awful, but 5 redeemed the series.

The first Nightmare on Elm street and Friday the 13th weren't as great as most would expect, and their respective series produced sequels that definitely improved the storylines.
