that album has mixed feelings "hey i want to be serious and I could be playful too"

yet 90% of america still believes shakira is all about shaking her ass as you could see in the above ....... yet they asked her this is what she responded

Shakira was part of a Latin boom.......at the time she came out of laundry Service...... i think shes setting ground for her next album its better to have good music that will influence people and grow a bigger fan base I also agree on having HDL to boost Oral Fixation and make more singles out of it.....

You're a horrible fan then. If you truly were a fan, you would know that Shakira's heart is in Pop/Rock songs, NOT latin dance songs. She grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, the Cure, the Beatles, Nirvana, Depeche Mode, and others.

So even though you may be disappointed and wishing for the album to flop, I'm 100% certain that Shakira loved making the album and that she considers it one of her strongest works. Sure, the album isn't commercial, but it's still an excellent album, a hell of a lot better than the majority of Pop albums being put out now. By wishing for her to go back to the latin dance songs that she is popular for you are showing how weak of a fan you are. I wouldn't even consider you a fan. You just want her to sell, and if she doesn't, it must mean the music is bad in the world of Froggert.

If she makes you lose "so much respect" for making an album of music that she WANTS to make, then so be it. Shakira doesn't need the respect of people who flip flop whenever she pulls out a radio hit.

That is exactly what I'm thinking. If Shakira has to release a commercial and catchy song to get radio play and to save the album then so be it. My greatest hope is that if "Hips Don't Lie" becomes a hit Shakira can continue from there with the true quality songs on the album like "Illegal", "How Do You Do", and "Timor" and that radio stations may be more open to playing the other singles if they played "Hips Don't Lie".

Whoever has followed Shakira music will know that she can go from very serious topics to fun dancing catchy songs. That is part of her musical style. Fans of her rock deep songs dont like to see her light side, fans of her catchy danceable songs dont like or dont understand her serious songs. But she is both and that is what I like about her. I love OF2 the way it came out, I think it was a really good album, but unfortunately it didnt sell the way it was suppose to. People were expecting a La Tortura in english, and the album even though with awesome songs didnt have a response to the success of LT. So HDL came out and I think it was a good idea. HDL fills that void created by LT and now the album has a commercial chance. If the songs succeeds the other songs on OF2 have a good chance of exposure.
By the way I love the video ( and she is not naked on it ) LOL
