Britney takes quite long breaks between albums but everytime she comes back she is still relevant. Beyonce is still relevant after breaks.
But someone like shakira after breaks needs to try so hard to rebuild from scratch and it doesn't always work out (re she wolf)
it's all about good music. if you are a big name and you return with a great song, you'll have a great comeback.
