A frequently-aired commercial for the new Fiat 500 Cabrio features The American Idol judge driving through what has been made to look like the streets of New York with a voice-over track praising her old stomping grounds.
However, a spokesperson for the singer/actress confirmed to the New York Post that Lopez didn't actually film any of her scenes in the city, and a body double was used for the East Coast work instead.
Her portion was filmed in Los Angeles,” J.Lo’s spokesman, Mark Young, said, adding, “I don’t see a problem. There are many cases where films are done the same way.”
The Post also spoke with Fiat spokeswoman Diana Gutierrez, who said, “We took the opportunity to film wherever Ms. Lopez was working at the time to accommodate her schedule . . . One does not need to be in a specific location to be inspired or continue to be inspired.”
I mean JLo is in the commercial saying she went back to her roots, back to her block when she didn't even step a foot in the Bronx and you guys are saying its not a big deal??
I wish people would realize that her image has always been kind of fake. She is not really from the block. She never chilled at the corner store in the bodega's she never was running the streets and she was never the kind of girl who interacted in the hood. My family lived right down the block from her in NY. She always felt she was above the Bronx. Jenny was never really a "block girl" in the way people think of that term, she was always brand new. I met her a few times (97-99) because I knew her mother and she always acted very Hollywood. Nothing against her, I will always admire her for what she has accomplished and her level of celebrity - but people need to wake up. Jenny was never the girl next door, "girl on the block" type she once portrayed herself to be.
The real story here is how they pulled the original Fiat commercial she did (the Papi one) because it failed miserably and had nothing to do with the car. They had to shoot the "emotional" one after realizing the failure of the Papi ad. Then she performs in the Fiat at the AMA's...

It's all very tacky.
Actually your wrong boo.
She shot the "Papi" one and the "emotional" one at the same time. It was always the plan to air one after the other.

You tried it tho
Actually that's not even the point, boo. The point is, the entire ad campaign is failing and it's tarnishing her image because she's so fake and tacky in the commercials. In one of my marketing classes the professor played both commercials and the auditorium (hundreds of people) burst out in laughter because it's so bad.
