Gagaville/FarmVille is one that comes to mind, I know I purchased the album doing that. I know Best Buy was selling Farmville/Gagaville creditcards that gave away the album with it also.

It's not as if she suffered from selling the album at $0.99....... she still gained the same amount of money as she would if they were sold at full price [considering that they were INDEED sold at full price to the retailer Amazon].

All while Gaga ho-ho-hos to the bank. I honestly don't know why people are getting panties in a knot over this deal. It happened. The rules changed, but it's too late. She got those sales.

Firstly, Gaga had nothing to do with Amazon's price cut.
Secondly, 75% of the pop girls using the desperate tactic doesn't suddenly make it right.

There was technically a giveaway involved. And Billboard brings out the "customer intent" problem in this case, what i was saying from day 1. They did not just sell the album cheap....they gave away huge amount of free space with the purchase on their Cloud service. We don`t know how many people bought BTW for music...

Exactly. Both tactics/strategies are frowned upon and deemed as cheating/unfair. It's the same thing - both ultimately were to inflate sales, etc (if you want to argue that Gaga's camp did the discount).

The point I was trying to make (which STMG failed to see) was that a certain poster has issues with moving on from this. Nobody's even making much of a stink over the LFN remix or even the discount as much as this poster.

I'm sure this has already been stated, but none of those purchases counted. They're doing the same thing with Rihanna... and it was only the first day.

At the end of the day, more people got to appreciate "Born This Way" legally, and that's what's important.

And Monroe - Radiohead, Girl Talk, Coldplay, and other acts have given their albums away for free. Are you going to start an epic crusade against these well-established artists too?

but what people seem to forget is that this was not your typical slash the price on itunes move... gaga was compensated i believe for the album regular price... this was a way for amazon to promote their new service... gaga still got the cash she would have had it been sold full price at walmart
