I know some people are ticked off by incorrect use of grammar and punctuation but this is just a forum and people are going to express themselves differently. I agree that some people don't know the difference between words such as "your" and "you're" but when it boils down to it, its just a forum.
The funny thing is that I mostly see this mistake made by native-English speakers on here.
Before you tell others to talk your language correctly, get it together yourself. Govern yourself accordingly.
Just because someone is using proper grammar doesn't mean they're in school. Using proper grammar and spelling doesn't mean ATRL has become a university. It also doesn't mean you have to be "formal" when you'd rather be informal.
Such rebels... If you have a problem with using correct grammar and spelling, don't use it... If you don't want to take the effort to learn it, then don't complain when you're later criticized. I'm not telling anyone to change, I'm simply providing a thread for people to use if they feel compelled to.
I love when people, even English majors, use the excuse that it's "only the Internet and not a classroom". Don't be a dick. It's really not that hard to use proper grammar and spelling. Spellcheck is available on pretty much every web browser, and if you're not using Google Chrome or Firefox, "than" "your" lame.
No one speaks in proper English all the time so why even try?

Exactly! It is just an excuse. There are all these reasons why people shouldn't have to use proper spelling and grammar or why they don't need to learn. So many people are making this about native vs. non-native speakers... when in all honesty we know a large majority of "native English speakers" need just as much help.

Why should non-native speakers use correct English when they barely use the language outside of the internet?
Come on now.
