That's why Gay community aren't taken seriously,When you have people who aren't gay or bi "experimenting" it makes us look like were choosing to engage in a homosexual lifetyle.Plus the bible Condemning Homosexuality isn't helping either.

That's why the definition of homosexual needs to be rewritten.

!!!
I've always thought that's why a lot of people think it's a choice - they think being gay is having sex with another guy.

It seems that the "nature" argument, or, rather, the "people are born gay" argument, is the only basis for others' acceptance of LGBTQ folk and, for many of us, the only basis for acceptance of ourselves. As a result, we continue to regurgitate findings from scientific guilds to support our claims of "truth" regarding our worthiness and full humanity.
[...]
I affirm my LGBTQ brothers and sisters who name and claim their sexualities and expressions as part of their being. But I also want to push back against those who feel as if there is only one right (pun intended) way to think about our sexual selves. What if one's affinity towards, attraction to, desire to be intimate with, and/or love for another person of the same sex is a choice after all? What if we, including those of us who are LGBTQ-identified, considered what it might mean if we only relied on the nature argument to somehow prove that we aren't morally inept, sinful, hell-bound, deviant, lustful, and/or community-destroying bodies?

great article, thanks for posting.
I do believe that I was born gay, but I think there are a variety of environmental and psychological factors that shape sexuality throughout our lives. like the author of this article, I wish we could retire the nature vs. nurture debate in regards to homosexuality. it just isn't valuable in the fight for human rights.
what if being gay is a choice? does that make gay people any less deserving of equal rights? of course not.

You can only choose to expirance with all kind of sex, you can't choose who you're attracted to.
If you're attracted to boys and you say you are straight than you're just lying to yourself and vica versa.

EXACTLY.
Why do I have to justify my sexuality just to earn the same rights as a heterosexual? If I did choose to be gay, why is that so horrible?

Then it becomes a very slippery slope...or at least in the arguments of those that are anti-equality.

Sexuality is a scale. No one is purely 100% straight or gay.
However, being gay is not a choice. If it was, then there would be no gay people.

The world needs to get over this pronto.
I think being able to choose wether or not you're gay or straight would make everyone bisexual in a sense. There are literally some gay and lesbians who are repulsed by the opposite genders genitalia, and there's nothing they can do about it.
I don't think they woke up one day and said, "Well, today i think i'll be into Penis!"
A lot of people are confused sexually only because of societal pressures. If being gay wasn't such a taboo, people wouldn't be so strung up about it, and we would have FAR LESS confused and suicidal gay teens.

That's a lie. I love being gay and I wouldn't have it any other way. You can choose which lifestyle you wanna live.

It's kinda funny though.
How straight people can't imagine themselfs being attracted to the same sex but having a hard time understanding that for gay people it's the same with imagining themself being attracted to the other sex.
I mean, how can they understand that for them being straight is something that is just so clear and not a choice but can't understand that gay people are the same.
Like I would want to choose the harder road in life, or anyone for that matter o.O.
