last one from me....
Part 1 for Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran and Michael Buble click here.
Part 2: Dappy and Fazer, Snow Patrol, Kelly Rowland, James Morrison and Jessie J.
Part 3: Hugh Laurie, Jamie Cullum, Andrea Bocelli and Elbow
JLS ‘Take a Chance on Me’ is the song chosen to follow on from Elbow…chalk and cheese we guess. Dressed in a variety of black and silver they seem to be struggling singing their own song here. Aston (the little one) and Ortise (the hat one) manage their solo bits alright but the harmonies are like a physical assault on my ears. I thanked Buddha when it was over. They also mention ‘Gary Barlow’ several times to try and get in with the audience. They bring on some dancers for their next club-lite track ‘She Makes Me Wanna’ – this suits them much more, less live vocals more dancing boys! Chart friendly fodder that gets the crowd going and a back-flip to finish. Gary pumps his fist at the end.
Jessie J returns to the stage for her solo set now kicking off with ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ Jessie is now sporting a black and red wig with an all-in-one black and white skin tight number. Her vocals are very are totally on-point, to be she conveys her songs much better in a live setting than they come across on her records.
Also I keep saying ‘set’ then people only perform one song, oh well.
Oh HELLO the main man, the Captain Gary Barlow is now on stage, thanking everyone in his little speech, wow his public speaking has improved MASSIVELY! We then see a VT of Barlow meeting a little boy who lost his dad and found it hard to deal with the grief, one of the last things the boy (Ronan) and his dad did together was go and see Take That and so Ronan goes to meet Gary in the studio and spends some time with him. We then hear confirmation that Cheryl Cole still has that sore throat and so Gary does a duet with the crowd instead to ‘Back for Good’ on the old piano. Gary is also wearing a cute little grey flower on his suit – not sure if this has any significance at all? It’s pretty obvious that Gary’s confidence is definitely insanely high at the moment and he has every reason for it to be with his career arguably being at its highest point currently. Lots of crowd participation and ticker tape makes for a great performance of this all-time classic.
After Gary a rather sweaty Chris Martin takes to the stage with Coldplay to perform ‘Every Teardrop is a Waterfall’ – one of the biggest bands in the world and rightfully so musically and vocally they sound amazing – a highly energetic performance as well with some lasers – pretty euphoric stuff. Next up in their set is ‘Paradise’ – Chris is literally dripping sweat onto his piano at this point and rather nicely has the text number for the charity written on this hand. Their sound totally fills the arena and the crowd are loving these newer Coldplay songs – the last wooooo’s of the song are faultless. Final song of the night is ‘Viva la Vida’ – what a tune! Some of Chris’s vocals are a little off due to him jumping about a bit but c’mon we can forgive him this – also the sweating has now turned his t-shirt dark grey instead of it’s original light colour – lots of energy. We now also have complete arena ticker tape explosion – always good. The whole crowd is joining in with the ‘ooohh oooh ooooooh oooooooh’ bits too – looks like utter fun!
