That's not stage presence though, that's her standing still singing decently and not much more. The audience singed along but that happens at all concerts regardless how bad or good said performer is.
That's what i'm talking about!...you don't have to have the "Britney type of stage presence" to actually have stage presence...there's some people who love Britney kind of shows, wich don't give anything to me, at the other extremse we have Mariah wich only stage presence was her voice, wich a stage presence i really value, and there are artist like Beyonce/Madonna who are equal in both aspects, there are artist like Xtina who have more vocals, then Rihanna...etc...So at the end there are different factors (singing quality, dance quality, songs, interaction etc) for every people to make a final sums and decide if that artist has stage presece.
I wholeheartedly agree, BUT...
Stage presence is key with every performer. Adele just stands there as sings, and I'm not a fan of hers, but the bitch has STAGE PRESENCE. It's not solely based on vocals, it's the way she carries herself on stage -- she commands attention. So despite what genre of music and what type of vocals or what type of artist you are, stage presence is essential, and I feel Rihanna is lacking heavily in that area... even after six albums.
I think because automatically when you see a live show, the experience overtakes you. It always does for me when I see Britney. That doesn't change that performances like in the promotional rounds for Femme Fatale are terrible. (EDIT: Which in each and everyone, she exuded great presence and command.)
I saw Katy live, and I legit laughed.
But it's true that Rihanna has great stage prescence.
She interacted, sang live, and put on a great show.
Same with Ke$ha.
Some artists (ESPECIALLY BRITNEY) perform better in front of fans, than they do when they're performing on TV.
So that's The Navy's defense? Because judging from the countless televised
performances and youtube clips is not enough to determine whether an
artist has stage presence? You have to see them live? C'mon, now.
Get outta' here with that, man.
...Vin
since when do i represent the entire RIhanna Navy?
These are my opinions. Other people say she has stage presence in her youtube videos, but like i said, it's nothing like seeing her on stage right in front of you. her youtube videos are NOTHING compared to being in the same room as her, listening to her sing her heart out. where she says one word and the whole crowd screams. she smiles and pokes her tongue out and giggles, and the whole crowd screams. if that doesn't prove her star power and presence, i don't know what does. i've been to a beyonce show too and i enjoyed it as much as i did the rihanna shows i've been to. just because she doesn't deliver what the other pop girls do, does not mean she doesn't have stage presence. she has SOMETHING which makes her sell out 10 shows at the London O2 arena, and you cannot just dismiss that.
Agree with the first part...the second part about what Rihanna "needs" we don't really know, she's doing pretty amazing just the way she is, let's see what happends...you can always grow as an artist though.
lol she can't be doing "amazing" if we have threads like this where people are questioning her stage presence or lack there of. Again, it's TOO early for her to be as lazy as she is. She isn't like a Britney or Madonna nor does she have their type of fan base where the fans will still support her future tours for years and years to come. Rihanna's tours don't even gross that much compared to her peers, and she often struggles to sell tickets in the U.S. with her tours. Even her opening act Ciara got better reviews than her when they went on tour together.
So yes, she does need to step her performance game up.
You're attempting to paint Rihanna in the Adele category -- as if she's a pure vocalists.
She's in the same category, in terms of the stage, as the rest of the female pop
acts, and yet, she lacks the stage skills of the rest of the female pop acts.
...Vin
You are asking something you already have an answer...you don't see her as good performer, end of story, what else you want?
i could show you the videos but people who have BEEN to her shows, professional people who review it for a living, disagree with you. and that's the bottom line.
I never listen to the critics they show too much shade. I had hear bad things about LGOET and Femme Fatale tour, but I went to both and the best time of my life.. However, if I Rihanna and Britney both came to my town on the same day I would have to choose to go to Rihanna's show it was much more exciting, because she has so much fun ! I still love Britney to death tho.

In Rihanna's defense, she's a WW artist rn.
Her European Tour is sold-out, including them 10 O2 dates.
She has success in the US, but she became global with LOUD, and nobody can argue or deny that.

bringing up tea about performances years ago. typical, considering...
They form opinions just like everyone else, the major difference is they get paid for it. One critic may say a film is horribly bad and urge the general public to stay away from it while another critic may say the film is great and it's worth the admission price. My point is, form your own opinion on the question asked and don't rely heavily on reviews from critics. *yawns*
They get paid because it's their profession and job. They're still more creditable because they've been going to about just every tour/concert for years. They've seen everyone from MJ, Madonna to Beyonce, Rihanna and overrated reptilian looking circus acts perform. So if the majority of EXPERINCED critics are saying it's great than it's great. I doubt you ever been to more than 20 concerts in your life. Their opinion > yours. There is nothing to discuss. You tried tho.
Ugh, why is everyone giving Rih all this random attention? When you post a desperate ass thread like this, it's just proof that you know that Rihanna is a bigger star than your fave and you're bothered by it.
A mess, people only did this kind of trolling with Gaga prior to TTT and its anticipation. Rihanna's climbing up
