Britney's new sound might be more 'blues-ish'
This is from the People magazine article I guess.

Britney Spears is planning a pop comeback because she's bored by the music playing on MTV and the radio.
The super-critical pop superstar turned her back on recording and touring almost two years ago to become a wife and mother, but now she's desperate to challenge the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan and Ashlee Simpson and reclaim her pop crown.
She tells America's People magazine: "I haven't seen anybody out there who has had a performance where I'm like: 'That's awesome.' It's been boring."
Spears, who quit her last tour, citing exhaustion and injuries, can't wait to get on the road again.
She adds: "This may sound weird, but I miss travelling. I miss the road… I needed a break. I needed to be hungry again."
And the Lucky singer is hoping to shock fans when she returns to the limelight later this year, by ditching her pop sound for a new bluesy style.
She explains: "I used to listen to blues music and all that stuff. I would like to try to have more influences of that sound. Not that I'm going to be like Tina Turner, but you never know."

I never thought of Ms Turner as blues...
But anyway, I love blues and I think her voice might actually be well suited to it. I imagine it'll still be pop but with a blues-y sound/style.

Me too! I think it's a pretty good idea. I hope she does some soul music too. Something completely different then what she usually does.

OMG Britney needs to stop BITING other people's styles. Xtina said she's been doing that for a WHILE and now she's going to try it. She needs to do a Madonna full dance album.

In what time period? Jazz is what a lot of good producers derive their productions from (see Rich Harrison and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis). Jazz is naturally a more mature taste than others, it's not as mainstream as the other genres.

Yeah, she needs to do a dance album - and then you're going to say she's using Madonna's style? Come on, that's stupid. It sounds like you're saying Aguilera is the first one doing a jazz (j-a-z-z, not blues) album, and the same for Madonna with the dance style. ¬¬

I know it's not the same, but they have similar elements. Britney had a good thing going with "And Then We Kiss", "Breathe On Me" and "Touch Of My Hand", she should expound on songs with the same vibe like that, it'd be a HIT!

and another thing. And we have been saying it for a long time people! No one knows exactly what the album will sound like. No one knows how far she is gonna go with the jazz theme. Her first single, as said by the producer DJ Premier, is suppose to be really fast, i.e Destiny's Child Lose My Breath. So you people who are saying, "oh she is doing a jazz album, it's gonna flop" need to chill. It is probably just gonna be flat out pop with a jazzy influence!

How is Britney going to do jazz if she can't sing? No one wants to hear slow songs from Britney because you're forced to listen to her awful voice.

hmmm.... it seems my 'Britney Lovers & Haters thread' experiment failed seeing as it's been completely erased. For those who didn't notice I started two separate threads. One for Britney Lovers & one for Britney Haters. In less than four hours, both went horribly wrong leading to a horrible failure.
No wait....IT WASN'T A FAILURE!
It has established the purpose for blogs: for lovers & haters to come together and totally argue about Britney Spears for six or seven pages before an Administrator puts an end to all the madness. Then repeat.
Yes I see now! It is the natural order!

Totally agree, BOM and TOMH were unique songs that were both fan favorites from ITZ. If she comes up with an album like this then its sure to be her biggest hit.
