Ugh I hate that part. I just throw it out or give it to my dog.

Cuz it's like coated in crust. Crust can be a nice textural change (in moderation), but who wants it take up half your bread experience when you can opt for soft delicious breadness?

I only use the middle most pieces, and work my way outwards.

The first and last pieces of bread are all crust

This. Too much crustiness for me. Ruins a sandwich. Only time I use it is when I'm making a panini.

I don't like taking the "first thing" of anything, in general. For example, when shopping, I don't grab the milk that's in the front, I go for the second or third one. Or I don't grab the first bag of Oreos. Or I don't take the first plastic lid to cover my drink at a fast food restaurant, I pick up the stack and take one from the middle.
