I love this song but I'm not sure I see it as a successful single, that's because it's comparable to Thank God I Found You and Through the Rain and those 'greatful/inspirational' type songs are risky imo. They can do really well but have to released at the right time where people are more ready to appreciate it, sometimes they just don't fit in with the current music scene are viewed as boring. Fly Like a Bird is much better then TGIFY and TTR imo and people can relate to some of the lyrics due to war and tension being extra present on the news etc so it might do well. I'm not sure but I hope it does well.

Maybe FLAB can surprise everybody and be a smash

This song will probably not be the way Mariah Carey wanted to end "The Emancipation Of Mimi." I was still hoping for "Stay The Night!!!" = (

Mariah wanted this to be released. She has said several times that it's her favorite song from the album. I really don't think she is anticipating a mega-smash with this, however.

I'm just telling it like it is. I can't believe her label is actually going through with this release. This song isn't radio friendly and will do NOTHING for the album. "Stay The Night" or anything other than the craptastic ballads that clog the second half of the album would help the albums chances.

And no one better give me this "oh well, they don't care what they release anyway since the album already ran its course" ********. Any smart record label would try their best to release what could sell an album.

You do make good points, bud. But really... I think the audiences that were targetted with the other singles probably already bought the album. Fly Like a Bird will appeal more to a AC-based, older audience.

Besides, I think "So Lonely" has tons of hit potential... and I heard that it is going to be pushed and promoted relatively soon.. This would give her two songs on the radio, which are completely different and thus appealing to difference audiences. I think if they do follow through with this that it would be pretty smart. But we'll see what happens, I guess :-)

Is "So Lonely" a release for the "MIMI" album though? I would like to see a real release for "MIMI" as a 5th single and just have "Fly Like a Bird" as a song for Urban radio exclusively. I love Mariah but her inspirational songs are so tired and trite - if you have heard one you have heard them all!
