She already is more popular than Lady GaGa. But these things come in waves; GaGa was hotter than RIhanna in 2008/2009. MTN was never going to go to #1, but a top 10 peak is totally appropriate for the song.
I don't like MTN but the video can bring a lot of promo for the song, People will be interested, even more if there is a shock element (as you can see by the still). And radio is really playing the song, they like it. I think TOP5 is on lock, but let's see.
And, THIS. Don't you people have something more important to worry about, like your work, your studies, your husband, your kids, your house, your money? Does your life depend on the success on the success of Gaga or any other popstar? I don't understand this excessive and unnecessary competition between artists. It's becoming worse than sports competition (which is also unnecessary).
I think it's only the beginning of this "competition" between pop stars.
It'll be funny to see what happens when GaGa releases her next EP in 2012, alongside with Madonna's new album, Katy Perry's next album, Justin Bieber's next album, Christina Aguilera's next album, Rihanna's singles, etc. I think it'll get worse.

Well, it's not like there has ever been 1 single artist on the radio.
Fans are just more pressed these days.
This is just straight up sad. I've actually tried justifying the fact that this era has been pretty unsuccesful, but if you can't keep up with your contemporaries then what the **** are you doing?
I'm also sick of Gaga actually looking unattractive and just over the top half of the time. Beyonce and Rihanna manage to look flawless in videos, which is really why I've given more consideration to listening 4. The imagery is top of the line. Rihanna's team are branding geniuses as well.
BTW is actually my favorite Gaga album, but it's pisses me off at how much it's ****ing itself over. COME ON.
It's my favorite album too, Born This Way ***** on The Fame Monster tbh. But if Gaga continues to do the same music in the next era, she won't have success. She lost a lot of fans during the past few months and some appeal with the general public. I think that she is aware of that, Im very positive about that.

Let's pray that Gaga sees the big picture now. I hope she does.
Marry The Night is off to a strong start, so I don't get what people are pressed about.
You're all such bandwagoners
oh really?
Hahaa, no but really. I'm actually not a so called "bandwagoner" in any way, I'm just being realistic.
Gaga either GETS HER **** TOGETHER, or the impact that she wants to make with BTW is going to negatively affect her. It's ****ing Pop music she's making. Half of the general audience considers her to be insane.

Clearly, since you've been talking about it for a good 10 hours.

Right, as a mainstream popstar there needs to be a balance between pursuing your creative vision and satisfying your audience.
After all, this waste of oxygen, sorry excuse for a human being and walking advocate for the need to a woman's right to choose represents a large portion of pop music consumers:
That (BTW's climb to #1) was when Gaga followed 2 eras that shat on Rihanna's existence. The next era won't be like that...
hmmmmmm I think never era its def gonna depend on the quality, so if its good then it will get played but WFL is kinda weak and her team rushed it when cheers was still rising

Marry The Night is probably the most radio friendly track on the album, so I dont get what else you want her to do

This is what scares me the most tbh. This competition seems to be growing so fast and it seems unstoppable. It's just like what Jeff said a few days ago. Why can't fans accept the fact that two or more artists can be successful at the same time?

I don't find that bad at all. Bjork ***** on many mainstream artists, so I don't see the problem if Gaga actually becomes the next Bjork. It would be ten times better than the next Rihanna.
I'm not here for the next bjork.. That would take away all the excitement of stanning and requesting and your fave slaying idk not for me
