It may be because GaGa is particularly big in Asia and Adele (or any other artist for that matter) isn't. Born This Way sold roughly 60K in Taiwan, a country that is not tracked by Mediatraffic at all, neither is most of Asia. Don't get me wrong, 8 million is ridiculous, but I think that could be a legitimate reason.

It's funny how GaGa stans used mediatraffic last year when they named The Fame Monster as the Best Selling Album of 2010 and now they don't use their estimations. Even the same GaGa tweeted about that last year after Mediatraffic posted their year-end charts:

"The Mother Monster landed at the top of the chart after her little monsters around the globe bought a total of 5.8 million copies of her massive album. And Gaga is extremely grateful for the achievement.

"THE FAME MONSTER was named the best-selling album of 2010!" she wrote on Twitter."

The only Asian countries found in their Chart Methodologies are Japan, Malaysia, India, China, Russia and Turkey and there are a total of 48 recognized states (members of the United Nations) in Asia.

I know music sales are nowhere near as big in Asia (bar Japan) as they are in other continents, but it is still something to consider. Especially when talking about Gaga, who is a force to be reckoned with in Asia.
