To my fellow ATRLers:

Over my time on ATRL I've noticed A LOT of members talking about me behind my back. I've read everything from "he's so annoying," to "he seems fake," to "I don't like him but I don't know why."

Nobody's perfect, but I would at least like to know of the problems many of you seem to have with me. I try to respect everyone on the forum. However, I understand it doesn't always come off that way, so I'm more than willing to hear you out. We're a community and we're supposed to be able to talk about what's bothering us (in a mature and respectful manner).

Many of you had no problem responding to my request for help with my survey for school, and many of you seemed very supportive and friendly... but behind the scenes it seems like a different story.

I don't want to come off as condescending or conceited, as if you asked people I know in real life I'm not really either of those. I just want to feel like a welcome and valuable addition to the ATRL community. I'm not asking everyone to like me, I just think we all owe it to one another to start being more respectful and dealing with our differences in a more mature way. In the words of Beyoncé, "Let's start over..."

Honestly, I wouldn't give a **** what anyone here thinks tbh. Just be yourself, and if you're abiding by the rules, then everyone will just have to ****ing deal.

It's not that I feel like I need to change who I am, I just want to feel welcome and be respectful, and to let people know that I won't get offended if they tell me their problems directly (as long as they're respectful). I want to feel like a part of the community, and there have been many times recently where I don't.

Thanks Andrais. Lol. You're right. I didn't think everyone hated me. I just want people to know I'm open to direct communication if there ever is a problem, and I'm also aware that I come off at times as having an inflated sense of self-importance. I can't help but want to change that perception, but I do know I can't please everyone.

For the most part, you are, though. It's just that it may rub people the wrong way, and that's fine. Like with the whole bracket thing, who the **** cares if people have a problem with it? If that's what you want to do, then so be it.

Everyone has people that doesn't like them. Everyone gets talked about and everyone talks about people behind their backs. Thats just how the world works, there isn't a single person that has everyone liking them. I don't even need to add that this is a forum.

I guess I'm trying too hard to be a people pleaser... I've just always had a lot of people looking up to me in my family (because I'm the oldest of 12 siblings), and I also have a lot of family members who have been proud of me for things I've accomplished. I can't help but be proud of myself, but I don't want it to seem like I think I'm better than anyone else because I definitely don't.

The bracket thing, however, was just something I tried because I liked how it looked. I didn't know it would bother so many people, and it's not really necessary... so I have no problem stopping it. Makes me seem like a pushover, perhaps, but if it meant enough to me I'd have kept using them.

I was going to ask you to remove those silly little square brackets from all of your posts but I see you've already done that.

Haha. I guess that is a weird thing to do. Ultimately I enjoy being on ATRL and I don't like feeling unwelcome. After all, like everyone else I want to get positive things from being a part of this community.
