He's the prototypical teen sensation, it's really not complicated. His appeal is rather obvious considering his target demographic.

As for those coming for his talent...look at the people worshiped on this site. I'd take Bieber's talent over any of the pop girls except Gaga and Beyonce.

Because he's talented, but more importantly he's cute and marketable.

It's not that hard to understand.

edit: I can't with Rihanna fans saying they don't understand his success. I mean really...

He sings better than her. He dances better than her. He plays 5 trillion different instruments. He sometimes writes the lyrics and melodies on his own songs. He actually cares about his fans. The quality of the music is subjective and obviously people like it.

Yes, Justin has massive tween appeal but that's not what makes him successful alone. There are lots of artists that have that tween appeal but nothing else to make it. Justin has more than that appeal. He has vocal talents, he songwrites, plays instruments and generally he's up for any challenge put infront of him. If he wasn't successful or talented he wouldn't have these big names from near enough every genre of music bowing at his feet trying to get a collaboration with him. His voice has matured so much recently and that was the question from day one, "once his voice breaks will he still have good vocals"?

Well the answer is yes. He's going nowhere anytime soon and he's just starting out. 3 #1 albums on Billboard 200 before the age of 18. All of his albums minus his debut EP have gone #1, now if that isn't successful idk what is.

With way more success.

Talent doesn't always equal success.
I see him fading in the near future like the Jonas Brothers.
