People are saying 3 years because Gaga wasn't big until very late 2008 if not early 2009 --- after awards season, you'll notice. Her first videos were nominated in the 2009 VMAs.

The awards are fan voted now and Lady GaGa and Justin Bieber are always the biggest winners because they have the biggest online fanbases.
Yes we know this, but why is it people put excuses as to why Gaga gets the awards. They act like other artist are handicapped or something. Like they're not capable of garnering said "strong fanbase". They are all POP STARS, they are all playing in the same field. One would think that being in the game for so long will help have a "stronger fanbase", don't you think?

well, I don't disagree with you but these awards also depend a lot on the host (I mean the one who creates the nomination list) and the artists themselves (active or deactive)

Yes it's kind of unfair comparing her with the likes of Madonna, Britney or Bey because back then the awards were not fan voted, now it is easy for the bigger artist of the year to snatch 4-5 awards in one year
