Yes, but regardless of whether or not they do support it, the rules will be put into effect. ATRL isn't a democracy.

It's not like ATRL is telling us we can't download them.

I see nothing wrong with posts such as "dl link on my wall," which is what 90% of members who post links on here do.

If I remember correctly, member's wall posts are only accessible to fellow members, and not to guests so I don't see how that should be a problem.

Anyway Belle, stop whining already. ATRL doesn't want file sharing on its website, they'll be no file sharing on its website. It's not like it's the only place on the internet for this stuff

We're well aware of the ongoing debate revolving what's theoretically safe to allow and what's not. The point of our policy is to protect this site against any form of legal action from major and independent companies. A lot of time and money is being invested into ATRL, so it's in our best interest to take these precautions regardless of how unnecessary it may seem. I should also point out that we've been growing at a ridiculous rate in traffic this year. The bigger this site becomes, the more important it will be to have a firm policy in place.

Question regarding the new policy... Are we hypathetically allowed to have links posted on are walls as long as we don't comment in any threads that we've posted links there? And are we allowed to comment in the NHB or SYG threads that aren't moderated that we've posted a link on our wall?

Does the new policy include youtube video with DL links in the description or youtube videos at all?

Theoretically this could be used against google, twitter, youtube, tumblr, and a host of other sites. Since technically they are "sharing sites" that offer this material...

We're not going around walls checking to see if you have links there, but if someone reports it, we can't ignore it. NHB & SYG are not immune to this kind of policy. They're just for personal and celeb related madness.


It all depends on the website. Sites that are purely for illegal file sharing are not allowed while other sites that may contain this material alongside articles, interviews etc (As many blogs do - ConcreteLoop for example) are fine to post. Youtube embeds are fine and search engines are fine. It's all on a case by case basis and we're definitely not trying to stop anyone from posting links to regular sites.
