And further than that, it's also significantly more likely for a suit to be passed to an ISP first before any potential customers, and that ISP can choose not to forward the warning.

A better question is if US citizens are aware of the bill they are trying to get passed into law at the moment which would force ISPs to take any site accused of copyright infringement offline within X days until said site proves itself innocent in court.

Listen. All I'm saying is that 4chan /mu/ is extremely long running and massively popular, and they have very public share threads all day with no issue. I'm sure a few links here and there won't get a site that's been around since 2001 f'd in the a.

It's specifically aimed at ******* sites, file-sharing sites like mediafire and rapidshare, and video-streaming sites like YouTube.

Then it's going to be wasting a lot of damn time patrolling for content on sites that get hundreds of gigabytes of material uploaded per minute.

We don't need file sharing on ATRL, though. It lessens the quality of the website.

I'm not saying dedicate a forum to filesharing. I'm saying let it be just like it was the other day, where we're allowed to share the occasional link without it being an issue. Though I fail to see how it lessens the quality of the site in the long run when we have threads like SYG and NHB and, well, most of the userbase.

There's tons of file sharing sites, I'm sure every member of this forum at least has one. A short reminder that a certain record has leaked, and you'll know where to go.

The improved rule is meant to keep the links off of ATRL. As Athens said, you're free to send whatever you'd like through private messages, as long as you don't mention the content of it in a forum post (ex. "I'll PM you the link").

Well back when SIN was a hub for file-sharing, someone posted Natalia Kills songs that hadn't even come close to being released and Cherrytree took action, so you're banned for posting links now.

Basically, we don't want any legal troubles with ATRL. That's why the mods did this, and I respect that decision.
