Theres no point continueing to flog the albums, the most sensible thing to do is to accept that they are flops, go back to the studio and come up with a hit.

That is just unrealistic though. Shakira worked so hard on this album. It's not like she just added her vocals to the songs, the songs belong to her: music, lyrics, production. She can't just throw in the towel and give up on an album, especially one that she put forth such a great deal of effort to create. This album overall got great reviews. It's definitely not a bad album. It's just not very radio friendly.
I think she is realizing that she needs to release a hit song in order to save the album. That's why she is working on this song with Wyclef Jean (the Fugees), and this new song will most likely be the 2nd single. I think SONY will re-release "Oral Fixation Vol. 2" with this new song on it. But it's just unrealistic for Shakira to give up on this album. It's a high quality Pop album, one of the best of the year, and overall a better album than "Laundry Service". She has to promote this album. She has to get her music out there, even if the songs aren't very radio friendly, but she can't give up on it.
