It's movies, it's television, it's real life.

We as a culture have demonized anyone of Middle Eastern descent, and it's disgusting tbh.

I mean, in VIdeo Games you usually play as an American killing Middle Easterns...it's more 'interactive' than movies. So is it weird to be playing as an American killing your people?

Well, I myself am not of Arabic descent.


I feel like it must be upsetting and offensive for Arab-Americans to play these video games and seeing their people and culture as something to be feared, hated, and killed

I live right nearby a heavily populated Arab community, and from what I know, most of those boys play those games too.

From what I've heard, their biggest pet peeve and annoyance with the media's portrayal of them is that Hollywood mostly uses Indians to play Arabs in movies and TV shows. I've never heard of a complaint about video games, though.

Yeah that actually pissed me off a little bit.

Video games aren't even the real issue, since Americans as well as many other "westernized" cultures are demeaning and prejudice towards anyone of Middle Eastern/North African descent. This issue of racism of course exploded after 9/11, but has been an issue in American history for awhile now. People are usually very ignorant and uninformed about most political and cultural issues and thus believe anything anyone in authority tells them through the corrupt and biased media.

Jk. I don't really care. The word is full of stereotypes, I can call Americans empty-headed fat McDonald's addicts. Don't report me, I'm just saying. In this world, no matter how perfect you are, you can be looked at differently. It's all how your brain works and whether you let silly things get to you or not. I've lived among Americans and Arabs, and I'll have you know that Arabs are not offended by anything. It's not even an issue to us, because we care more about how we're trying to improve our daily lives & society issues. Many Americans tend to overreact and -over-analyse these stereotypes, etc. etc. I personally don't agree with the negative hype of it. It's not a big deal. Not here, anyways.

I find that quite a few games go for the 'communist' countries such as some Asian countries and Russia etc.

I find it all rather funny that communism is hated by Americans, communism which is based on Marxism, Marx who pretty much predicted operation 'occupy' and all these protests like 200 or so years ago. Ah irony.
