Beyonce Knowles is truly one of a kind. She says she's hoping that her latest release isn't another number 1 smash. The sexy singer and actress has said she's changed the focus of her music career because there is no longer a challenge for her to reach the top of the charts. "What's really hard is not trying to be No. 1 because I've had a lot of number 1 singles," said the 24 year old star. "I would much rather do a timeless album than another No. 1 album. It's important that I grow!"

I'm so happy that she's finally taking the direction she wants to go. Especially for this new album. I hope that she makes an R&B Soul album like she really wanted to.

She says this now, yet I'm sure come the album's release it'll have a CIL-type single leading it off. She may not care for a number 1, but I'm sure as hell her label does.

They were practically letting her do what she felt on the last album, she just wanted to make sure it was a hit album to distinguish her as a solo artist

Beyonce has had FULL creative control on her albums since survivor, Check On It was good for what it was, nothing more than a catchy jingle to promote a movie. It wasn't mean to be a number 1 song, I really DON'T think it was meant to be released considering radio play forced her to release it... And if it was, it wasn't suppose to be released till late Dec. or early Jan.

gosh, some people r so thick, am sure u understand her point. Its not like she wants to have a flop, but she wants a good album, e.g. like Diary, which is first and foremost 'timeless' or whatever, and then commercially successful.
