You've obviously not heard many Ciara tracks then because Ciara is alot better vocally than "And I" portrays her to be. I still can't believe that was actually released as a single though, what a disgrace, vocally and lyrically.
Now on the comparisons, they're quite annoying but it's predictale coming from urban music fans. I do see the comparisons though. Their voices are very similar. Both vocalists are mezzo-soprano but often confused for soubrettes. Both are close in range. I know Ciara has a 2 octave range while Aaliyah is right in between 2 and 3 octaves. Like someone else said, they both have that street appeal too.
For some reason, Ciara fans want her to be the "next Aaliyah". Aaliyah will always be awesome but Ciara's fans should vie for more. Lets face the facts here, though Aaliyah has several multi-platinum albums and 4 top 10 hits, it's not exactly alot compared to other contemporary R&B females. Ciara already has the same amount of top 10 hits (Like You or Lose Control included). Why not aspire to be as big as Janet (which I think Ciara is trying to pull off)or bigger ? Why not aspire for your favorite artist to be different than any other ?
