Don't fool yourself into thinking Gaga is seen as less believable a performer than Britney. Less than 3 years ago Gaga was the poptart singing about getting wasted in clubs. In 3 years, she's had a praised world tour that stands as the #1 debut tour of all time, given buzzed-about award show performances, opened the Grammys with the legendary Elton John, performed with legends like Sting, written songs for legends like Cher, been asked to do duets with Jazz legends like Tony Bennett, won 5 Grammys, written 2 albums that were nominated for AOTY, and her "attempts at serious messages," as you call them, are named-dropped by the President of the United States when he addresses the nation.
I don't think a popstar can do a better job of being perceived as a "serious artist" in 3 years. I know Britney didn't do it in 13.

Janet still owns the record for biggest debut tour of all time with Rhythm Nation. Gaga has toured twice.
Now that said, true tea.

As someone pointed out... Billboard has pointed out that Gaga INDEED has the biggest debut tour. We will run with that because we can.

I guess they're going classic/old school with their selections since Janet popped out Appeared
Paul McCartney
The Rolling Stones
Prince, Florida A&M University Marching 100 Band,
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
The Who
I mean with the exception of last year
The Black Eyed Peas, Usher, Slash (Slash is still pretty old school)

Gaga has had two SEPARATE tours. Both tours can't be your debut

Rolling Stone has been eating gaga's ***** since day one.
They lost it since they decided to give snooki and other bitches of her caliber front covers. They are not the same magazine they once were. Payola all the way these days.
The FACT of the matter is that it wasnt her debut tour, a writer can say whatever they want. It doesn't change a simple fact. If someone of a magazine writes all kids will jump off a bridge, you're gonna do that too because rolling stone said so?

Biggest tour for a debut headlining artist...
biggest debut arena tour for a headlining artist...
second biggest female tour of all time...
You have to give her credit somewhere. Just choose where and be done with it.

Oh you did not just say that, Madonna is and has been relevant for 30 years, she only needs to release an album and everyone runs out to buy it. She is timeless and she is NOT and old school act at all, and Im beginning to think she will never be one. Just wait 5 years and see how Madonna is still reigning while today's favs fade into the background. Believe me, Ive seen it happen so many times...
