The vocals in We Found Love are soft for a reason.

WFL is a dance song with a dark, sad undertone. Imagine if she was belting about hopelessness. It wouldn't work. The quiet, "off to the distance" singing makes it all the more effective.

Yes. i had to listen for it twice everyday to make me like it to it. but it sounded well in the end.

Thread is really interesting in the fact that there's almost the same amount of people stanning for both songs.

OG bridge ***** on most other song's bridges, let alone one that repeats the first verse

Yes. Calvin understands how to work Rihanna's voice WAY better. She doesn't come off as yelling like she does in OG. But I do agree, the chorus & verses of OG are way more interesting and better.

Absolutely. We Found Love is basically the peak of how generic dancepop can get.

Only Girl is her most overrated single since Disturbia. I just don't get it. It's good, it's nice, but it's not all that.

We Found Love isn't exactly a memorable classic, but it hits harder and faster.

I don't really have a preference for either song. I think they're both fantastic in different ways and that they're equally tied for Rihanna's second best lead single to date.

I don't understand why everyone has such an issue with the lack of lyrics in We Found Love. What is so wrong with a production-based piece?

We Found Love is everything OG wanted to be, actually. Lyrically, musically, vocally, visually WFL is far superior, and is her best lead single since Umbrella (Russian Roulette is now a very close 3rd).

That's exactly what I was calling attention to with this thread. They tried really hard to combine a soft voice with depressing undertones in order to give the song more of an impact, when the powerful vocals of Only Girl give off a more genuine vulnerability, masked though it may be.

why do you keep saying that...there's no vulnerablitly in Only Girl the song is intended to be strong and commanding, hence the powerful vocals in which she's TELLING the guy to love her like she's the only girl in the world. We Found Love is completely different. The song has a euphoric vide and a bittersweet undertone. The soft and angelic voice is not supposed to combat the production or overpower it, it's supposed to ride the beat because she's NOT winning in this game called love. This love that is HOPELESS is taking the life out of her but the strong production and festive beat is supposed to symbolize the adrenaline rush and addictiveness that often consumes us when we are 'in love' and makes it hard to walk away. That is how I interpret both songs.
