no...it is just the song And I Am Telling You made whoever played Effie more in the spotlight than who played Deena.

Actually, for season 3, I would have gone with Diana Degarmo and Latoya London. Jennifer Hudson would have been in my Top 4.

Jennifer Hudson is suppose to be the groups star ya know, but Beyonce steals the spotlight somehow and pushes Jennifer to the side.
Beyonce is the starring role, Jennifer is opposite I think

I dont know if Beyonces character does that consciously. I think it was more like the manager. Jennifers character had the best voice but Beyonce character was just the prettiest and was more marketable than overweight and lass attractive Jennifers character. So that is y Jennifers character "Effie" got pushed to the side.

Jennifer no doubt has a great voice, but for the contest she wasn't right when it got down to it. She lasted a while, and by then people stopped looking at just a voice I guess. American Idols about the whole package.. style, charisma, and voice.

i dont know if you guys didnt see my previous post but i dont think america was being prejudice about the looks at all. in regards to the jennifer and fantasia comment. ok fine, shes a little chunkier but as for looks they are no way near far away from each other. neither are a la tyra banks
i still think from now on its the black out... first of all her last performance was the best and the judges agreed and im sure "some" of america agreed. if only if only the people from her city/state got to vote... i really think it would make a big difference
nobody agrees?

It would've made a huge differences. Fantasia better thank god everday for putting those lights out...
But think about it, maybe it was written in the stars Fantasia wins, I mean go figure her city would blackout and she'd go. I think Jennifer was her only WOAH competiton..

The story begins in 1962, when The Dreamettes, a hopeful black girl group from Chicago, enter a talent competition. The three girls -- full-figured lead singer Effie White and her groupmates Deena Jones and Lorrell Robinson -- meet Curtis Taylor, Jr., a shady businessman who becomes their manager. Curtis convinces James "Thunder" Early, a popular R&B star, to take on the Dreamettes as his opening act. Curtis renames them The Dreams and begins, with the help of Effie's songwriter brother C.C., to push them into the mainstream, falling in love with Effie in the process.
By the mid-1960s, Curtis decides to make the thinner Deena the lead singer of the Dreams, in order to give their act more pop appeal. Effie is resentful for being pushed out of the spotlight, but her anger is doubled when Curtis' affections also shift to Deena. By the late-1960s, Effie has sunken into a depression, and Curtis replaces her with Michelle Morris, although Effie is pregnant with Curtis' child.
With Morris, the Dreams -- now renamed "Deena Jones & the Dreams" -- go on to record several successful pop hits, while Effie struggles to establish a solo career on her own. By the early 1970s, Deena wants to quit the act and become an actress, and Lorrell is involved in a difficult marriage with James Early. Effie, however, finally finds the success and fame she wants, undeterred by Curtis' underhanded attempts to suppress the release of her hit single "One Night Only" by having the Dreams record and release it. Deena and Lorrell eventually learn of Curtis' true nature, and decide to disband the Dreams. The group makes their farewell appearance, during which they reunite with Effie, in 1972, resulting in a happy ending for all.
Thats just a quick summary of the movie from wikipedia. And by the looks of it, there is no real star of the movie. They seem to share equal roles in the film as a whole. It even says here that Effie, near the end of the movie, establishes a sucessful solo career, and I believe she even sings the theme song of the entire feature.
Either way, Foxx gets first credits so...
