Billboard Hot Tours: Taylor Swift, Shakira, Foo Fighters
Quote:
Taylor Swift stands atop the latest Hot Tours ranking as the country star's Speak Now World Tour registers $18.6 million in reported ticket sales from shows in 13 U.S. markets.
As the tour heads into the final month of its 2011 schedule, grosses from the North American leg top $83 million from 46 venues, including four NFL stadiums that were part of the summer itinerary. This week's tally includes totals from two more NFL venues, Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City and Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Swift, one of just a few stadium headliners in the country music genre, played to sellout crowds in both venues. Attendance on Sept. 24 at Arrowhead, home of the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, was 48,562 with a gross of $3.1 million. Fans from the Dallas/Ft. Worth market bought 55,451 tickets for the Oct. 8 concert at Cowboys Stadium, generating $4.3 million at the box office. In addition to the two stadiums, ticket sales from 11 arenas are also included in this week's counts. Overall attendance at all venues was 270,662. Since the North American leg of the tour kicked off in late May, more than a million fans have purchased a ticket to see Swift in concert.
Shakira is second on the Hot Tours rankings with grosses reported from Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in the San Juan suburb of Hato Rey. The 18,500-seat arena was the final venue on the Colombian singer's The Sun Comes Out World Tour that launched in September of last year. Combined attendance from the two-show run in Puerto Rico (Oct. 14-15) was 24,788 with ticket sales revenue topping $2.8 million.
Foo Fighters is No. 3 with sales totals reported from two sold-out performances at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on Oct. 13 and 14. The Los Angeles-area venue grossed $1.5 million from the concerts, selling more
than 30,000 tickets for the two-show stint. Support acts for the date were Cage the Elephant and Mariachi El Bronx.

People argued with me about Taylor's status and power a few weeks ago, but this just shows how massive she is.
It took Madonna 25 years to tour stadiums in the USA. It took Taylor 4.
This girl is the biggest thing in North America BY FAR. Album sales, tour grosses, magazines, media attention, etc. Nobody is coming for her.

She can't sell magazines. But who cares, since her tours/ music are incredibly successful.
I think Taylor is big in the US only, not really in other North-American countries (Mexico and Canada, for examples).
