The only time I take a critic's opinion into serious consideration when checking out music is if I know their tastes and opinions are quite similar to mine. Kind of the same way I'll use a friend's recommendation in music, because our tastes are in sync. But aside from that, I don't place a great importance on critical reviews. They're just opinions, not stone cold facts.

Like what you like. Critics are humans and have (biased) opinions like everyone else. They get paid to give their thoughts. That's the only difference. It's as simple as that.

Judging critical acclaim based on the scores on Metacritic is as stupid as deciding that something is good or bad based on how well it sold. It's just a case of stans resorting to numbers to argue the merits of their faves, yet again.
