- After the original bowed to a better than expected 22 million and went on to rake in solid DVD sales, the sequel debuted a tad better than expectations and sizzled with a scorching $9,500 PTA. Other debuts fared moderately with both End Of The Spear & The New World garenering modest & respectable PTA's from just over and under 1,000 theatres.
- HOLDOVERS. Hoodwinked drops an amazing 10%, while Glory Road & Last Holiday both see superb drops in the 30% range. Expect durable runs for these hits from last week's MLK weekend.
- Brokeback Mountain expands into well over 1,000 theatres and hits the national top 5. With a PTA still in the $6,500 range, the cume stands over 42 million with much more to add. Speaking of Globe fever, Walk The Line increased over 75% this weekend and broke past the 100 million mark on the strength of it's 3 huge Golden Globe wins. With $102 million and counting, expect WTL to keep growing until Oscar night.
