Madonna's Hung Up now spends it's 10th week in the UK singles chart, beating her previous record of 9 consecutive weeks with both Like A Virgin and Vogue!

EDIT: Oh it is. In the UK charts there aren't a lot of singles that spend more than 10 weeks in the top 10, it's a weird chart lol.

In the UK 10 weeks at n1 is a miracle. Even 5 weeks at n1 is a miracle.

Yeah it's sooo weird! If you look at the Uk charts the peak doesn't say a lot since a lot of singles debut high! You have to look at it's longlivity.

Yes, they have 13 #1s in the UK. But like some people said, it's very hard to spend more than one week topping the UK singles chart. Two weeks is already impressive. "Hung Up" and Westlife's "You Raise Me Up" did that recently.

It was Bryan Adams' Robin Hood song 'Everything I do (I Do It For You)' that has had the longest run at no:1, it lasted at the top spot for 16 weeks. Wet, Wet, Wet came second with the Four Weddings and a Funeral song 'Love Is All Around' at no:1 for 15 weeks. I don't know the total time in the top 10 though which would be a fair bit longer.

EDIT - Candle In the Wind, the version which was re-done for Diana, spent 5 weeks at no:1 I think but a long time in the chart, another big one that was in the top 10 for a long time but not at no:1 for a long time was Celine Dion's 'My Heart Will Go On' for Titanic I think.

I think HU stayed at #1 here for 4 weeks.

That's exactly what's so good about UK chart. Songs don't stay that long, and they are all different from each other. Love my UK chart!
