More albums usually equals less singles.
And it also means people are more interested in you as an artist rather than a hitmaker.

I'm done with you.
PS: do you know why people keep calling Katy and Rihanna single artists ? because they sells more singles compare to albums.
If Gaga is selling at least 10m singles now with a 1.8m album, she is one of those single artists too. You tried, but failed obviously.
|
I do understand ratios. But hard core facts do not always apply in pop music. You know she underperformed with singles compared to her fame and album, it's okay, Gaga can't be perfect at everything.

If Katy Perry is the future of pop, December 2012 can't come soon enough.
Seriously, if the age of outrageous for the sake of being outrageous is upon us for the next five years I'm becoming a rock stan or something. Hip hop died, pop is dying, the whole art is dying. What ever happened to being an artist.
You're delusional if you think Katy Perry and Rihanna take their work passionately. They're nothing but lifeless shells who music producers and labels insert stuff into and send off into the world. Gone are the times of Madonna, Janet, Mariah, Brtiney, Beyonce, Springsteen, Monica, Lauryn Hill etc., artists who you could actually respect because they gave a damn about their music.
If these two are leading the way for pop, get ready for a dark age of pop.

TF was re-released. 4.3m include deluxe version
TFM (EP) at 1.5m
TF/TFM are albums that were released long time ago. For sure the figures will be bigger.
BTW was released 5 months ago and already almost half of TF, i would say i couldn't expect more to be honest, since she's no longer a new artist that has the "new" factor.
singles-wise, she's still doing greatly.
JD and PF was her breakout singles while she is new and no one buy her album. 6m, not really surprising (see Tik Tok for this)
BR is not even 5m
LoveGame, Alejandro were taking long time to pass 2m too.
Paparazzi, Telephone were taking long time to pass 3m too.
BTW will pass 4m in Long run
Judas will at least pass 1m
TEOG will pass 3m
YAI will pass 2m for sure, unknown for 3m.
I don't see any decline of success.

You said the public is only truly here for Katy and Rihanna which is false, they're only here for their quick, disposable hits. They're only as relevant as their next single.
That's the only thing they really have on Gaga and that's only because she didn't release bubblegum dance pop like they did. Could Katy or Rihanna sell 5 million with an album like Born This Way? Could either of them release a single like Judas and still hit the top 10? I don't think so.

We shall see though, I get your point. Katy could well transform for her next era and surprise us all, I somehow doubt it though but I will happily eat my words if she gives me an amazing album.

Not the topic of discussion. Your whole comment started off wrong.

Rihanna isn't passionate about her work and thats why she is always in the studio recording right?
