Besides, that was "Katy Hudson," not Katy Perry. Think about what you are saying? Besides Michael Jackson's first few solo albums were duds, but he eventually found worldwide acclaim and success. Same with Janet Jackson. And no, I'm not saying Katy is on their level either.

That was the same person. It's like you're saying Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus are two different people. And it doesn't matter how many Gospel albums are big worldwide hits because Katy is still very local. That'd be a better argument if she was ******** worldwide.

You can't compare Katy's debut to Rihanna. Rihanna didn't start out as POP. She was Carribean/R&B and only had 1 POP single (SOS)from both her first 2 albums. She didn't debut when POP or dance music was ruling the charts. Let alone have Dr. Luke product her first single or any songs on her album. And sales wise TD is only album to outsell AGLM. Which is nothing to brag about considering she had over a years worth of promo & 5 #1 monster US hits.

Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus is a whole different ballgame because Miley was releasing albums, EPs and singles for both simultaneously and had a successful TV show promoting her. Regardless, gospel albums are not worldwide or even huge U.S. successes, and are not meant to be. I'm saying, Katy has lots of time to get worldwide acclaim, and she has grown with each album commercially.

Because she has a lot of things to work on.

1.Image
2. Album,lying naked on clouds of cotton candy
3. Candy theme
4. Few generic singles

You have to take everything into consideration.Public won't fall for that.More like they're being embarrassed to pick up copy of your album or just don't take you seriously. Look at how hard is LMFAO smashing with singles yet no one buys their album.Why?Get it now?

I Cant believe some people on here are saying gaga is fading , yet she still makes a greater impact then any artist alive right now AND she sells more albums then Rhianna and Katy. BTW will follow that trend. If Katy is the future of pop then im worried. Not really bothered about Rhianna because i know she can make quality music.

Dr Luke's singles don't make people sell albums now do they? They make them sell singles, something Britney and Katy are doing just right.

"Pon Da Replay" type of songs was what was POPULAR at that time, Lumidee and the rest were doing just that, and it was a great success so yes they are comarable. Plus she was labelled as RnB out of the gate, a genre who was really successful at that time.
