You can't deny that the music from BTW is something so far from radio friendly territory, it's even more of an achievement she's managing to make this album as successful as it is.

Katy Perry is still a bit new to the game IMO. Alot of pop stars werent as Popular during the release of their 2nd studio album. Just imagine having a semi-successful a WW tour and making $44M according to Forbes (on your 2nd album and you're not Lady Gaga) that's impressive. All she's needs to do now, is to make less generic trashy music

Katy has had two big singles era, even though one is bigger, doesn't mean both aren't big.

I would too, but she would likely lose the mindless, hormonal teenagers that make up the majority of her fanbase. Her success is highly dependent on appealing to that crowd.
