it's all about finding the right amount & using them properly - ATRL overdoes it at times, but, to be fair, PopJustice seems a bit dead without them.

It is not about originality, it is like a tradition, there is that one gif in a thread that stands more than the rest and is used it through the damn thread. Some of you should get a little humor, it is for fun. But this gif is just ugly. It is always better when it is Mariah.

This special gif is annoying but I love it when people argue and use the same gif over and over again. It makes the whole thing more fun and less serious like most of the things on ATRL should be.

You've gotta PM me some more GIFs in general.

To me, using a gif and only a gif to illustrate your point is a lazy way to get your point across. If you use that gif before or after your opinion to strengthen and emphasize your point, that's when a gif can be most effective. Posting a gif by itself screams, "I cannot speak for myself and have to let a celebrity speak my thoughts for me." That's just my opinion, though.

The problem with using gifs properly is that there are a lot of people on ATRL that want to be popular, and one way that newer members attempt to be popular is to use gifs that are being used by the "cool kids" on ATRL. That's how most of the most popular gifs get overused quickly and often, as it's perceived to be a quick way to become popular.
