If you go to your
User Control Panel --> Edit Profile page, you'll notice a bunch of new options, including Gender, Sexual Orientation, Favorite Type of Music, Political Views, and University/College. All of these new fields will show up on your profile if you fill them out, and they are all searchable from the
Members List --> Advanced Search page. These new options will effectively replace the Member Basics thread -- it's all officially integrated into your profiles now.
Another change that happened recently is the
Edit Display page in User Control Panel. If you haven't checked it out yet, make sure to do so. You can customize everything about how this site looks to you from that page, including sets of colors, forums navigation, thread and post layouts, visible stuff on each page, and your message editor.
Finally, there is an important new feature to take note of. The first section of your
Edit Profile page is the home of
Change User Name, the convenient new place to change your user name without using the old points system. To prevent confusion and other manipulation of the system, you are allowed to change your user name no more than every 60 days. This should be a reasonable solution for everyone who wants to change their user name.
