Maybe because a music fan who listens to primarily pop has no right to call a heavy-rock band with 80s metal influences mediocre? Listen to "Strength of the World" or "I Won't See You Tonight (Part 1)" (from their last album) and you'll see how good Avenged Sevenfold really are.

I caught onto this song before these guys came to MTV and TRL. Same ordeal with Kelly Clarkson.

It's actually pretty good

Considering the abomonal taste of most of the people who are dissing on this song (except for Bart who other then a few other abominations of God has pretty cool music taste), you can't take to much stock in the people who think it sucks. Ryan already explained this song's pure awesomeness, so I feel no need to repeat him, but all I can say to the rest of you is that your allowed to have your own opinion, but don't be assholes and assume that the only people who like a song that you don't like are retarded especially if you can only back up your dislike for a song with ******** reasons like you can't understand a lead singer who comes out a lot clearer then many of the rappers and over-synthezised singers of today.
