They get writing credits on most ( all ) and it usually used as an argument for the "she is talented" argument. But what i don't understand is -

1) Why do their songs sound exactly like the kinda music Dr Luke & his team make without them. What do they actually contribute ?

And

2) Why can't they write songs with out 6 co-writers?
(this mainly applies to Kesha, and teenage dream Katy Perry)


Do people actually think they write their own stuff or is just me who is very suspicious ?
What do you think about there actually contributions to the songs they have credits for?

I hate when people say kesha wrote ttwe like she wrote the whole song, when she's LAST in the writing credits meaning she wrote the least.

And why are there usually a shitload of co-writers?

The intellectual value of the song lyrics aren't that notable, so it wouldn't be a surprise for them to write them...

I could write a song as well as them.

Or it could be in alphabetical order

I'll believe that Katy can write good songs on her own thanks to her first album, and her team probably put her contributions to the side for TD because they wanted a commercial album and Ur so Gay lyrics weren't gonna do that for her.
Ke$ha on the other hand I gotta say I'm suspicious.

I do think Ke$ha has talent. She's just writing dance, party songs for hits and to get ahead. Can you blame the girl?

Katy's songs all have various influences, because she likes to use various views and minds to better portray the meaning of what she wants the song to have. A good example of her writing alone is Thinking Of You.

I believe Katy Perry has written in the past, but Teenage Dreams, i'm highly suspicous as to how much she wrote on that.

Yeah. Its different when you know they actually wrote it, but if they really did, their songs wouldnt sound the same as other artsits who "also" wrote a different song.

I think Dr Luke mainly writes their material.

Doubting their song writing credits would be silly. Ke$ha has hundreds of demos, and you can bet Dr. Luke didn't write all of them. Katy for example, has written songs entirely by herself (Thinking Of You) on OOTB and most of her unreleased.

Katy mostly works with Luke and Bonnie McKee for a lot of her songs, how do we not know if they're only there to polish the songs?
