If Katy Perry were ugly she wouldn't even exist in the industry. She knows she possesses the face and body and uses that to her advantage.
Yes, she's definitely flaunting her looks but I must have to disagree with the other bit. When Katy got signed she looked a MESS(let's not ignore the fact she got dropped twice by two major labelsn), the person that got her the record label expressed it was her singer-songwriter essence that called his attention.
Plus, Katy first huge hit was not hugely influenced by her looks anyway, so if Katy would've lacked on the pretty department and sang IKAG, I bet that the song would've smashed the same way it did.
Goodbye. Katy is releasing monster generic hits and surely because her label is pushing it. They saw how big Tik Toc was, they went for California Girls. They saw how big party music was, they went for party singles. They saw how Dr. Luke was making so many hits, they went for Dr. Luke. If Katy and Gaga truly were on the same level, perhaps Katy would have stuck with something along the lines of One of the Boys, instead of releasing Teenage Animal.
Lies. Nicki has only released one album since she's become big. She was arguably not even that big until Super Bass, so lets wait until her next album before you say she didn't take advantage of the opportunity.
But Nicki HAS released 4 mixtapes which all contained very different material. ****, let's just look at all the differences between "Massive Attack" and "Your Love."
And you know everything about Katy Perry? No, you don't. Stop making assumptions. The fact you even state this proves you know nothing of her, once you admit even Gaga is manufactured to a degree then it will be better.
I kno more than you think I do and I didnt tell one lie.
And what does GaGa have to do with my statement??
Did I mentioned her once??
Is that the only way U can justify Ur weak ass argument??
If you don't think the label had anything to do with that, then that's on you. All of that was not on her own. And I never said anyone was exempt from those allegations.
That's the thing. I never said their label didn't have anything to do with it. I said they willingly did what they had to do to become successful like you would or any of us for that matter I'm sure. At then end of the day, they're all doing what they love doing, entertaining us.
To me a manufactured artist is an artist that the label treats as a product rather than a singer. Like Justin Bieber his label is milking him like crazy. A book, movie, doll, nail polish ect The Spice Girls is another example.
Meh. She is a great song-writer. And a good vocalist. She obviously wouldn't be seeing the success she does now or even during OOTB but so what? She would still be making good music.
If Bey didn't have look or her body she would just be a vocalist.
If Rih didn't have her looks.... If Gaga didn't...... If Justin Bieber didn't................. it would be the same outcome or even worse.
Even if you took away Beyoncé's looks and body she'd still have her performance skills and vocals. The same applies to Lady Gaga.
I never stated Katy would be the only one to fade if you took away her good looks, but out of most of the poplar female artists of today when it comes to redeeming musical qualities Katy is at the bottom.

Is that huge hit I Kissed A Girl? Hot girls kissing on other girls?

Yeah, and I never said anything was wrong with that. East asked how is Nicki manufactured, and I explained to her how. Her writing her own music doesn't mean that her style isn't manufactured, at least to a certain degree. Artists who are built from the floor up are the ones I hold issue with, but everyone has to feed their families.
As long as we all agree that Beyonce, President/CEO of her own company with a 50/50 deal with her label, is the least "manufactured" then all is settled.

Katy was successful with OOTB, so to even say she saw others trending and wanted to be that successful is stupid when she already one. Everyone changes, Katy has said multiple times that her age difference has influenced her greatly, OOTB is more party girl, TD is more about real life and love stories. Her next album will be totally different. And BTW wasn't generic? Please, go do your thing on someone else.
So wait, now Lady Gaga, the "tranny" whose looks everyone is always mocking (just look at SYG right now), is actually famous for those looks? Which is it?
It's also hard to say who's truly manufactured b/c we don't know who they really are and what kind of music they truly want to make.
On the one hand Katy Perry went from Christian gospel singer to successful pop/rockish popstar. And with her newfound success she went to become a full-on, 100% trend-following popstar who only works with whoever makes the biggest hits and aggressively courts iTunes/radio/tweens in her sound, image, videos, performances, everything. You might say that she's extremely manufactured...but what if that's what she really likes? What if she just genuinely loves making mindless, polished pop candy for the masses?
Hmm, good point.
But then again maybe it never occurred to her to make trendy pop music, and now she enjoys it. So you are right, we may never know

The same way Madonna did it. They're both not the prettiest, but still use sex appeal.

She did what she had to do to appeal to the urban crowd and won those that she could over. She did what she had to do to win over the pop crowd with PF, while trying to hold over her urban fanbase, and won over whomever she did. Now let's see the direction she goes in with her 2nd album before we decide whether or not the opportunity was lost. At then end of the day, she's doing what she loves while trying to be successful like most everyone in the industry.
I kno more than you think I do and I didnt tell one lie.

Well, you sure don't show it. That or you think you know it. Your always going on about her in your posts, and no it isn't. Because I have the facts behind why Katy isn't as manufactured as you think, she deals with all her fashion, songs, and put together the CDT. You can't tell me she is fully "manufactured" unless we have different definitions.
